Story Synopsis

Chasing the Songbird is a time travel adventure in which a disc jockey named Jason Garzoni drifts into the past via a strange accident and has the opportunity to save his favorite singer Sabrina La Roux from a shooting death that occurred years before he was born.

A young singer, Sabrina La Roux, informs her manager – a mob boss named Mister Rialto – that her father no longer wants him to manage her. In making this decision it is understood that she is putting herself in danger as Mr. Rialto is not accustomed to being rejected. Meanwhile we get a glimpse of disc Jockey Jason Garzoni’s unhappy marriage.

Jason splits from his wife, then while spending the night above his favorite record shop, has an accident that results in his traveling back in time to witness Sabrina and her backing group the Sirens in concert. After the show her driver abruptly quits (he cannot abide her father’s temper) and Jason seizes the opportunity to replace him, hoping he can protect her from the danger just ahead.

Sabrina has lurid fantasies about her new driver. There is much mutual attraction and banter. But they have a flat tire in the town that Jason recognizes as the location of her murder.

They wind up spending the night at a hotel after initially being rejected by bigoted innkeepers (they later reconsider when they recognize her as a famous singer.) They make passionate love in spite of all that threatens to keep them apart. The next morning Sabrina gets kidnapped and taken to an empty factory. Jason finds them just as Mr. Rialto makes a shocking revelation – he is her father. The man Sabrina believed to be her father then storms the factory and fires away before he’s tackled by Jason. Jason is knocked unconscious, unaware of whether he’s saved her or not. He regains consciousness in the present day and learns that he’s saved her and the two have been happily married for years.
